Our Story

About Hanford Times

Local news for Hanford, California. A Times Media Service publication.

Hanford roots run deep as valley furrows.

We know Hanford by its summer heat, winter tule fog and fields beyond downtown. We love the crops, the county fair and the history held in China Alley. We believe news matters when it helps neighbors understand what is happening on their own streets and in the farmland around them. We keep you close to both. We are Hanford Times.

How we started

Hanford sits amid the farmland of California’s San Joaquin Valley, where summer heat ripens crops and winter tule fog can hide the road ahead. Downtown, the old courthouse and China Alley hold pieces of a history that reaches beyond the fields. We started Hanford Times to report from within that particular mix of farm country, city streets and local heritage.

We are part of Times Media Service. We write about what is happening in Hanford with an eye on the details residents recognize: a changing downtown, the work tied to the surrounding fields and the gatherings that bring people out together. Our aim is to help you understand the place you call home.

How we work

The short version of our standards. Each one links to the full policy.

Independent

Editors decide what we publish. Advertising, sponsorship and other commercial interests cannot buy favorable coverage or stop legitimate reporting.

Accountable

When a fact we published is wrong, we correct the story itself and add a visible note that says what changed.

How we use AI

AI and automated tools may help us with research, drafting, transcription and translation. A responsible person is accountable for everything we publish, and we disclose AI’s role when it is material.
